Dear friends,

We greet you in the name of the Lord and continue to count it a privilege to be “partners in the gospel” with you (see Philippians 1:3-5).

With the conclusion of 100 Days of Unceasing Prayer and Shared Scripture quickly approaching, we want to extend a word of appreciation for your commitment to this journey. In our travels across the territory, many have shared their experiences with us, and we have been encouraged by them. More than a thousand people have been sharing in the praises, petitions and intercessory prayers of 100 ministry units from across Canada and Bermuda. Together we have taken them to the throne of grace in prayer and listened carefully for God’s voice as we have read his Word.

As we continue this journey of prayer and shared Scripture, we invite you to communicate your thoughts and reflections on what you have learned so far by answering three questions. Your feedback will be invaluable as we discern together what God has in store for our territory. We believe he will do “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20).

Thank you for prayerfully considering your responses as you reflect on what you have read, heard and prayed about in these days.

May God bless you. May God bless his Army. May God bless Canada and Bermuda and bring blessing to the nations through The Salvation Army.

Yours in Christ,

Floyd and Tracey Tidd, Commissioners
Territorial Leaders, Canada and Bermuda

Unceasing Prayer

Ministry Expression
York Housing and Supportive Services (Belinda’s Place/Sutton Youth Services/Durham Housing Retention Services), Sutton, Ont.

Praise God for youth who attend weekly “faith talks” with our youth chaplain. Praise God for the young man at Sutton Youth Services who stopped a drunk lady who drove into a pole near the centre from getting back on the road by taking her keys, not once but twice, as she had a second set of keys in her purse. He was commended by the police department and is now considering going into a career in emergency services. Praise God for the women who meet weekly for mental health support, lunch, Bible study and prayer, and that they continue to grow closer to him.

Pray for all youth at Sutton Youth Services to find their way with schooling, careers and family reunification. Pray for all the people in second-stage housing in Durham that they will stabilize and stay in housing. Pray for the September women’s retreat and the salvation of those who attend. Pray for clients from emergency shelter, transitional housing, second-stage housing and drop in to be involved in spiritual care and come to experience the love of God.

Pray for our municipal regions, their leaders and staff that they will continue to support our work in York and Durham, not just financially but also our mission as changed lives is our goal.

Shared Scripture

1 Timothy 3

Using your own words, rephrase the characteristics Paul gives for Christian leaders. Are they realistic? Why are such high standards so important?
