The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda Territory responded to The Philippines when Typhoon Haiyan hit November 8, 2013 - one year ago today. Initially, The Salvation Army responded with emergency food assistance feeding 3, 586.

As time progressed following the disaster, through donations received to emergency disaster relief, The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda Territory worked with The Salvation Army Philippine Territory to determine the needs of individuals affected by the disaster.

The Salvation Army will continue the recovery and community development initiatives in support of the affected people as they rebuild their homes and lives . A livelihood program will provide skills and support locally appropriate vocations including plumbing, house wiring, carpentry, masonry, food processing to assist people with sustainable income earning opportunities.
