More than 600 children from low-income homes across Canada were able to go to camp this summer thanks to Salvation Army thrift stores. The Army's National Recycling Operations (NRO) held its sixth annual Send a Kid to Camp GoodWorks@Work campaign at 106 NRO thrift store locations, raising a record-breaking $133,894 over the course of eight weeks.

Aiming to help send 500 kids to camp, the campaign surpassed its goal, raising enough to send 608 kids to 13 Salvation Army summer camps across the country. Last year, NRO thrift stores collected just over $100,000, helping 484 children go to camp.

“We are overjoyed to be supporting this initiative to send kids to camp,” says Michele Walker, national retail operations manager. “One week at camp is an uplifting experience for these children, one that they would normally not have had an opportunity to be involved in. They will now have memories that will last a lifetime.”

I would like to donate some money to send a child to camp and I would like it to be dedicated to someone. Is this possible?

Verna,
Thank you for your query. Please visit https://www.salvationarmy.ca/donations/

From that page you can select "donate to a specific location," then select the province, then select "provincial camps."

Alternatively, you can select "give in honour/memoriam" from the donations page.

God bless you.
