This is a devastating time for our province. Our hearts are aching for those who lost their lives, the families who lost a loved one, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who lost one of their own. To the people of Colchester County, Nova Scotia and all Canadians, we are with you. We know you are still trying to process this unthinkable tragedy, just as we are this morning.

We need each other now more than ever. Reach out to your loved ones, your friends, and coworkers. Take the time to check in and be there for one another. We, as The Salvation Army, want to remind all Canadians that our services are here for you. If you are in need of emotional care, spiritual care, or simply someone to talk to, you can talk to us. Please contact The Salvation Army in your community.

Thank you to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the first responders, and all of those who play a role in protecting Nova Scotians. You are the everyday heroes who walk among us, risk your lives, and are willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice for us. We want to extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones of Constable Heidi Stevenson. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers, and will be during the days ahead.

Today, as a province, we grieve together, we find strength in each other, and we will overcome this together.
