As General and World President of Women’s Ministries, Commissioners Brian and Rosalie Peddle will be based at International Headquarters in London, England. But their real Army roots will always be in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Brian Peddle was born in Norman’s Cove, N.L., and attended the nearby Trinity Bay South Corps in Dildo, N.L. Rosalie Rowe was born in Carbonear, N.L.—about an hour’s drive away—and attended the local corps.

Rosalie went to training college in St. John’s, N.L., as part of the Overcomers Session, receiving the rank of lieutenant in 1976. Brian, a member of the Companions of Christ Session, was commissioned the following year.

Remaining in her home province, Rosalie’s early appointments took her to Lethbridge—Circuit with Random Island, Deadman’s Bay and the divisional camp, while Brian had his first appointment in Hants Harbour, N.L. The couple began their ministry together following their marriage in 1978 as assistant corps officers at St. John’s Citadel, N.L.

Between December 1979 and June 1985, the Peddles held various appointments at the College for Officer Training in St. John’s and Toronto, and brought two daughters into the world, Stephanie and Krista. Their next appointment took them to the then Saskatchewan Division, where Brian served as divisional youth secretary and Rosalie was divisional guide director and then divisional corps cadet consultant.

Captains Peddle returned to corps work in 1988 with appointments to Chatham Corps, Ont., and St. John’s Citadel. After a year-long appointment at divisional headquarters in the then Ontario East Division, Majors Peddle became divisional leaders in the Maritime Division in 2001—a position they held for six years.

Majors Brian and Rosalie Peddle took up their first international appointment in 2007 as divisional commander and divisional personnel secretary, Northern Division, in the New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga Territory. Their next appointment took them to the United Kingdom Territory with the Republic of Ireland, with the rank of colonel, where they were chief secretary and territorial secretary for women’s ministries.

Commissioners Peddle returned to their home territory as territorial commander and territorial president of women’s ministries, where they served from 2011 to 2014. They were then called to International Headquarters as international secretary and zonal secretary for women’s ministries, Americas and Caribbean Zone, before General André Cox made Brian and Rosalie Chief of the Staff and World Secretary for Women’s Ministries.
