I am a Salvationist from Sydney Australia.
I remember the old guys in different Corps wearing their medal bars on their Salvation Army uniforms as a normal thing. I always looked at that as a good thing, because it honours service and gives young men and women encouragement to also serve something greater than themselves.

Now I have my own medals and proudly wear my medal bars as part of my Salvation Army uniform.

Problem is, all the old-school Salvo's are dead already or dying, and I am one of the very few in the Salvation Army that has served in the military.
So, some officers who do not understand honour, service, loyalty, have mocked my medals, not understanding that they have insulted the country that awarded them.

I think that anyone who wants to be an officer in the Salvation Army must first serve in the military. Or at least be taught why medals are and medal bars are worn. It might save some officers from getting punched.

God Bless.
