<description>Dear Dr. Jim and Capt. Amy,

I would like to debate firearms ownership and registration with you personally, however this is not possible. Canada does not need a firearms control program. The program has become nothing more than a political football, and should be eliminated. All handguns have been registered for over 70 years and will continue to be. Statistics show that, in cases of assaults and murder.

Knives of all kinds are now the weapon of choice and many other items can be used as weapons, baseball bats and golf clubs to name a few. Should we register these weapons as well?

Registration of firearms has not kept them out of the hands of the criminal element and never will.

The cost of this program has reached close to two billion dollars. It has not worked. It has only served to penalize law abiding firearms owners. A firearm or other weapon cannot act on it&#039;s own. I have owned firearms for fifty- five years without a problem.

A lot of hungry and homeless people could have been helped with the money that&#039;s been wasted on firearms registration.

Perhaps the Government should legislate against ignorance and stupidity.

God Bless You.

Sincerely,
