The American Instrumental Ensemble Series offers practical, playable arrangements for the full gamut of brass combinations—from a four piece brass ensemble to brass bands—with complete instrumentation. The AIES has been designed to offer the director optimal versatility. There is a wide range of choice first in covering the basic quartet instrumentation, and then in assigning parts for larger ensembles. The optional Euphonium/Baritone 5th part and the optional Percussion parts greatly enhance these arrangements. The inclusion of non-score transposed parts (C parts, F horn, Bass Clef Trombone, Euphonium/Baritone and Tuba) will be helpful in using different instruments. The inclusion of a piano part, which doubles as a condensed score, enables any missing instrumentation to be filled.
AIES uses the following scoring format:
Part 1 – Cornet 1 Bb
Part 2 – Cornet 2 Bb/Horn 2 Eb
Part 3 – Horn 3 Eb/Baritone Trombone 3 Bb
Part 4 – Bass Eb/Bass Bb
Part 5 (Optional) – Euphonium Baritone Bb
Percussion (Optional)
First things First Volume 1 and 2 provide 36 elementary pieces for a four-part ensemble. The music is varied in genre and offers a superb resource for those musicians at an early stage of development. Transposed parts (as well as added optional Percussion) are included which make this series one of the most accessible and a leading publication for young bands.
