NEON WORSHIP FUTURE LEADER SCHOLARSHIP
As leaders engaged in ministry at the local level and across the Canada and Bermuda Territory the leadership and members of NEON, the Canadian Staff Worship Team, recognize the important part musical worship plays in our services and the need for gifted and talented people to be trained and equipped to lead this well. This scholarship has been established by NEON to support the development and growth of young worship leaders across the Canada and Bermuda Territory. By supporting them to attend The Salvation Army’s annual Territorial Music School we believe that the young person who is selected will be exposed to some of the best training that that the Canada and Bermuda Territory provides and will be encouraged by the connection and contact with other young people who are engaged in the same ministry and leaders who can support and continue their growth past TMS.
PROCESS OF SELECTION
Each year, one (1) scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student to attend the Territorial Music School. NEON will hold a Territory wide survey for corps music leaders annually to nominate one outstanding musician from their corps who is between the ages 16-30. A nominee must be an active member at their corps, be an outstanding musician who goes above and beyond in their contributions to worship and music programs at the local corps level and be fully endorsed by their music leaders and corps officer.
The nominations will be adjudicated by the NEON executive, and one (1) scholarship will be awarded. The amount of the scholarship will be equal to the registration fee for TMS and any travel costs that student would incur to get to TMS.
Previous winners are not eligible to receive this scholarship again for a minimum of three (3) years. The scholarship is valid for us only in the same year as the application. If a nominee has to withdraw for any reason they will need to be nominated again to be considered. In the event the winner is unable to attend TMS, the scholarship will be awarded to the runner up nomination.
MINIMUM CRITERIA
- Regular attendance and involvement in corps music ministry
- Strong expression of faith and musical excellency
- Meets the eligible age to attend TMS (16-30)
- Enrolls in the Worship Mainstream study at TMS
- Nomination endorsed by the Corps Officer.
