COLONEL MARGARET MCLEOD

Colonel Margaret McLeod was born to Salvationist parents and grew up in Medicine Hat, Alta., where she was active in corps life.

Margaret received a bachelor of education from the University of Calgary and subsequently taught in remote communities in Alberta, and in the Bahamas. In 1992, she entered the College for Officer Training in Toronto as a cadet in the Crusaders for Christ Session.

Following her commissioning in 1994, Margaret served for 10 years in corps appointments in Ontario. From 2004 to 2008, she ministered in Papua New Guinea, first as director of academics at the College for Officer Training and then as secretary for personnel.

Margaret returned to the Canada and Bermuda Territory and served in a variety of appointments, including at the College for Officer Training, as area commander in two divisions, and as divisional commander of the former Alberta and Northern Territories Division.

In 2023, Margaret was appointed as assistant training principal at the College for Officer Training in Toronto.

Outside her ministry, Margaret leads an active lifestyle as a runner, cyclist and walker, enjoys adventure holidays, good coffee and ice cream.

On October 1, 2025, Colonel Margaret McLeod was appointed chief secretary for the Canada and Bermuda Territory.
