General Booth visited Merthyr Tydvil and after hearing William Richards speak called him on one side and said: “I want you to go to the Training Home.”
After three weeks or four week’s training he, with his young wife was sent to take charge of Tunbridge Wells.
Commissioner Richards has a very diversified experience of warfare. He has been a British Provincial Officer and Chief Secretary for the City Colony section of Men’s Social Work. He has been a Territorial Commander in Denmark, South Africa, New Zealand.
