Out of the past, down the rolling years,
March the Soldiers of the Cross.
See Them come, hear the tramping feet,
They're the Soldiers of the Cross.
They follow Christ, a mighty army,
The Soldiers of the Cross.

 

'Neath the standard of a cross they boldly come,
Hearts aflame with truth that must be told,
Won from every clime and from every time,
Men set free to be warriors bold.
Now the marshal columns pass with shining gaze,
Seeing upward to the heights above,
As they march along, hear their ringing song
Of their mighty Captain's dying love.

 

What move this host,
Their souls compelling to bring them thus in fine array?
To follow 'neath a blood-stained banner.

 

On a dark Judean day,
Christ in love man's debt did pay.
Man, the sinner undeserving.
He beneath a blazing sun tasted death for everyone,
Saving love on us conferring.

 

So eternal life He'll give,
Those who trust in Him shall live,
By His pow'r and resurrection - life victorious!
This compelling story calling men to glory
Now throughout the earth is heard.

 

Christ still is calling, calling men today,
Come be my soldier, follow in my way.
The foes are strong, the night is dark,
But do not fear,
I go before you with My presence always near."

 

Lord we will follow, we have heard your voice.
We'll join the others who have made their choice.
To swell the ranks of saints redeemed and called in love
To serve their Lord and then to reign with Him above;
To serve their Lord and then to reign with Him above.

 

The Church of Christ unsleeping moves forward thro' the land,
Her great commission keeping, the sword of truth in hand.
Sent to rescue souls from bondage and from eternal loss . . . .
So with life and strength we will serve Thee,
By the Spirit's pow'r we will serve Thee
The Soldiers of the Cross.
March along, Soldiers of the Cross!
