STAFF-CAPTAIN JAMES EASTWOOD

Staff Captain James Hunter Eastwood was commissioner July 1882 from Wingade, Durham, England.

Staff-Captain James Hunter Eastwood arrived in Canada from England, August 28,1885. He was only twenty years of age but already held in high esteem by the General.

Appointed to Territorial Headquarters, James was soon giving leadership that drew the attention of his leaders and was promoted to the rank of StaffCaptain.

Less than a year after his arrival in Canada, on August 15, 1885, the Captain received his heavenly summons and was the first officer to be buried in The Salvation Army plot in Mount Pleasant cemetery. He was only twenty years of age at the time of his death.
