COLONEL JOHN WALDRON

John Waldron was the son of the late Brigadier and Mrs. John N. Waldron, Pioneer Army leaders. He was born in the small village of Youngs, New York and entered the school for officer training from Scranton. Commissioned as an officer his first appointment was to the Niagara Falls Corps, N.Y. Corps appointments followed to Fulton and Cortland, N.Y.; Asbury Park N.J., and Jamaica, Long Island, as well as a term as divisional young people’s secretary in the Western New York Division.

The colonel’s love for youth was shown in his nine years as assistant territorial youth secretary and later territorial youth secretary and candidates secretary. In 1962, the colonel became divisional commander for the Western New York Division (Buffalo) and in 1965, divisional commander for the Western Pennsylvania Division, with headquarters in Pittsburg.

Four years later colonel Waldron was appointed field secretary for the USA Eastern Territory and then assumed the position of chief secretary for that territory in 1972. In January 1976 he became chief secretary of the Canada and Bermuda Territory.

Helen Miller entered the school for officer training from Herkimer, N.Y. in 1939 and married John on Oct. 1, 1941, in New York City.  She has supported her husband in his varied responsibilities as well as assuming official interest in the league of mercy and nurses fellowship.
