COLONEL MARK TILLSLEY

Colonels Mark and Sharon Tillsley have been involved in Salvation Army ministry for more than thirty years and are currently appointed as Chief Secretary and Territorial Secretary for Women’s Ministries, respectively, for the Canada and Bermuda Territory.  

Mark holds a Master of Science Degree in Social Work Administration from Columbia University and PhD in Educational Administration and Policy from Fordham University.  Sharon holds a BSN degree from the University of Pennsylvania and is a licensed Registered Nurse.   Prior to officership, Mark served in The Salvation Army Greater New York Division, first as the Nassau County Service Extension Director and then as the Divisional Director of Adult Social Services.    Sharon served as an R.N. in a variety of hospital and public health settings during this time. 

Mark and Sharon Tillsley have served as corps officers, divisional youth leaders and had the wonderful privilege of leadership at the USA Eastern Territory College for Officer Training. Before coming to Canada Sharon served as the Assistant Territorial Medical Consultant and Territorial Officer Wellness Bureau Director and Mark served as the Secretary for Personnel.

Mark and Sharon celebrate their Salvationist heritage and believe the Army exists to reach people wherever they are in their faith journey.  Mark and Sharon desire to live out a strong message of Hope that represents the optimistic nature of our theological heritage.   Perhaps stated most succinctly, they love and enjoy people and believe that God’s work is always relational.
