COLONEL SYDNEY MAIDMENT

He was born in the spring of 1868 at Bournemouth, Hampshire. In 1887 he graduated from Pokesdown and was appointed as an officer. In 1890,Captain Maidment  was stationed in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Maidment family travelled the world in their work for the Salvation Army.  He had an appointment in Amsterdam, and Cape Town, South Africa. In 1911 and 1912 he spent some time in Kingston, Jamaica.

Colonel Sydney Maidment, became chief secretary for Canada in 1912, stationed in Toronto until his death on May 29, 1914 as part of the sinking of the Empress of Ireland.  

He married Captain Harriett Peckham in 1882.
