COLONEL EDWARD HILL

Colonels Edward (“Dusty”) and Shelley Hill were commissioned as Salvation Army officers in June of 1993.

The Hills’ first appointments were in Hawaii as the Corps Officers at the Leeward Corps (Oahu) and then as the Divisional Youth Leaders for the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division. In 1998, the Hills were transferred to The Salvation Army College for Officer Training where they served in various appointments. Edward last served as the Dean for the School of Continuing Education and Shelley as the Assistant Director for Special Services. In 2002, the Hills’ were appointed as the Corps Officers of the Pasadena Tabernacle Corps. They remained in that appointment for 6 ½ years until being appointed to the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands as Divisional Leaders in July of 2008. After 4 years in that appointment, The Hills’ were appointed to the USA Western Territory Headquarters in July of 2012. Shelley served as the Women’s Ministry and Resource Secretary and the Fellowship of the Silver Star Secretary and Edward as the Secretary for Program. As of July 1, 2016, Edward became the Chief Secretary and Shelley the Women’s Ministry Secretary for the Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar Territory. In addition, Colonel Edward served as the Training Principal for the School for Officer Training in Singapore.

The Hills were appointed to the Canada and Bermuda Territory, effective November 1, 2018. Edward serves as the Chief Secretary and Shelley and the Territorial Secretary for Women’s Ministries.

Edward and Shelley were married in 1985 and have three children- Stephanie, Samantha, and Samuel.

Before service as Salvation Army officers, Edward last served as the Executive Director of The Salvation Army Los Angeles Red Shield Youth and Community Center and Shelley worked for various banks and as a manager at Warner Brothers First Entertainment Credit Union in Burbank. They entered the School for Officer Training in 1991 from the Pasadena Tabernacle Corps.

Both Edward and Shelley have received Associate of Arts Degrees in Ministry from The Salvation Army School for Officer Training located in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.  Edward has earned a Master of Divinity Degree from Northwest Nazarene University, a Master of Arts Degree in Christian Education from Azusa Pacific University, and a bachelor’s in arts Degree in History from California State University at Fullerton. He has also served as a member of the USA Western Territory Staff Band and as the Executive Officer of the USA Western Territory Staff Songsters. Shelley graduated from the Executive Track of the Arrow Leadership Program (Vancouver, BC.) in February of 2016.
