BRIGADIER THOMAS HOLLAND
Was accepted into Army ministry in April 1885 and was sent to the Liverpool Headquarters as a scribe. In July 1886 he appointed to Manchester and on August 18, 1886 was appointed to Southern D.W. as Captain. In March 1887 was appointed to Village War and in June of the same year as A.D.C. to Major Andrews with a promotion to Staff-Captain.
On August 31, 1888 he was appointed as A.D.C. to Staff Captain Heathcote. Then Divisional Officer for Leicester and Birmingham Divisions. In January 1889 he was appointed A.D.C. to Major Harding of the London and Central Divisions. He then took command of the Training Home operations of the Junior Soldier’s Staff and Field Officers in the Central Division.
He was next appointed to International Headquarters and appointed to the rank of Major with responsibility for the Grade Department.
On December 21, 1889 he was appointed as Field Secretary for Canada. In 1890 he was promoted to Brigadier, and in August 1891 was appointed as Chief Secretary.
On July 23, 1892 He was appointed as Field Secretary for the second time
On April 20, 1893 he was appointed Provincial Secretary for Western Ontario, in January A.D.C. to Commandant and in March 1895 as Chief Secretary and promoted to Colonel.
Thomas married Captain Higgins in May 1888. She had held appointments in Lower Ince, Birkenhead II, Warrington, and Manchester IV. AS a Captain she fought bravely and well at Macclesfield II and Liverpool V.
