GENDER EQUITY PRINCIPLES: OFFICER*
Salvation Army strategies/policies/programs/processes shall be designed, considered and implemented with full regard to the following Gender Equity Principles:
- We, as The Salvation Army, strive to develop an inclusive culture within which all officers regardless of gender or marital status may confidently expect to be respected, treated equitably and valued within a healthy female-male power dynamic.
- We, as The Salvation Army, recognize our officers' gender differences and acknowledge that having both men’s and women’s voices at all levels of leadership will improve complex decision-making, innovation and productivity.
- We, as The Salvation Army, in appointing and developing officers, strive to consider each individual officer's unique personhood (i.e., calling/gifts/skills/passion) and provide voice to officers irrespective of stereotypical views and prejudices about gender or marital status.
- We, as The Salvation Army, recognize that how we make decisions about individual officers inevitably affects all our officers regarding their morale, productivity, sense of mission and ultimately recruitment and retention.
*including active and officers-in-training (i.e., cadets)
