Digital Badges

The Salvation Army's Leadership Development Department offers verified digital badges that enable program participants to easily showcase their achievements and skills online. When you complete a Leadership Development program, you will receive a digital badge.

Leadership Development's goal is to build capacity in the Canada and Bermuda Territory
through programs that support leadership development and lifelong learning.

To achieve this goal:

  1. We deliver high-quality learning with real-world applications
  2. We grant credentials of significant and verifiable value

Digital badges supports our goal

  • Digital badges demonstrate the significance of your learning
    • Anyone can easily learn about what you did to earn the credential
  • Digital badges can be verified
    • You can prove you earned it through a real-time verification process
  • Digital badges are yours!
    • They stay with you permanently
    • You can share them to demonstrate your ongoing leadership development

What is a digital badge?

A digital badge is a web-enabled version of a certification which can be verified online in real-time. We have partnered with Credly to translate the learning outcomes you've demonstrated into a badge, which is issued and managed through The Salvation Army digital badging platform.

What are the benefits of a badge?

Representing your skills as a badge gives you a way to share your abilities online in a way that is simple, trusted and verifiable. Badges provide employers and peers concrete evidence of what you had to do to earn your credential and what you're now capable of.

How will I know if I've earned a badge?

You will receive an email notification from Credly (admin@credly.com) with instructions for claiming your badge and setting up your account. This account is free to use, and your badges will stay with you forever.

What do I do with a badge?

There are some interesting things to do with your badge. For example, you can share it online through LinkedIn, Facebook or in an online resume. This helps you demonstrate your learning and promote the professional development work offered by The Salvation Army, both internally and externally.

What's to keep someone else from copying my badge and using it?

While badges are simply digital image files, they are uniquely linked to data hosted on Credly. This link to verified data makes them more reliable and secure than a paper-based certificate. It also eliminates the possibility of anyone claiming your credential.
