Good Morning Family Of God 2021
Letter 63 February 10, 2021 by Major Brenda Allen
BLDalrymple 2021Our lives can revolve around many things. What would you say your life revolved around prior to Covid19? Have you noticed any shifts?
I am not an avid television watcher, but as I watched television for a bit last night, I was reminded how much advertising has shifted to revolve around life with Covid19. Not even advertising their product, it seems companies are simply seeking to make the viewer realize that they are a unique brand. They are telling us they care, and they are here for us.
When our lives revolve around something it is being named as ‘the most important point or element.’ What is the most important element of your life? Has Covid19 caused a shift? Are you wrestling with what truly matters?
Over the course of history, the Christian’s life has revolved around one truth, that Jesus is the center of all things; all things revolve around him. Existing when the world began – Alpha, and present for eternity – Omega, in him all of life finds its direction and purpose, its beginning and completion. “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:17). “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8).
Scripture says that one day “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10-11 ) One day all people, of all nations, and all cultures, past and present, will acknowledge the truth that life has eternally revolved around Jesus Christ.
Joy is found in making Jesus the one around whom our lives revolve. From the tax collector Zacchaeus to the business-woman Lydia, the devalued prostitute to the applauded entrepreneur, the questioning Thomas to the humbled Peter, all discovered “In him, Jesus, we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28). In this they discovered true joy.
Judy Salzinger, a professor of advertising and branded entertainment said “Brands are putting out messages right now to bring people together. And people will become a little more loyal to brands that make them believe it’s all going to be okay.”
“It’s all going to be okay.” Jesus is more than a brand that gives this message. He is the Eternal One, who holds all things together, and is life. He invites us to be found in him and known as his. In this, truly all is well.
On Sunday we sang this song for worship. The lyrics proclaim Jesus as the centre of all things. Today might be a good day to pause and consider what our lives revolve around.
"Jesus At The Center" (Darlene Zschech)
Jesus at the center of it all
Jesus at the center of it all
From beginning to the end
It will always be, it's always been You
Jesus, Jesus
Nothing else matters,
Nothing in this world will do
'Cause Jesus You're the center,
Everything revolves around You
Jesus You,Jesus be the center of my life
Jesus be the center of my life
From beginning to the end
It will always be, it's always been You
Jesus, Jesus
Nothing else matters,
Nothing in this world will do
'Cause Jesus You're the center,
Everything revolves around You
Jesus You
From my heart to the Heavens,
Jesus be the center
It's all about You,
Yes it's all about You
Jesus be the center of Your church
Jesus be the center of Your church
And every knee will bow
And every tongue shall confess You
Jesus, Jesus
Jesus, Jesus,
From my heart to the Heavens,
Jesus be the center
It's all about You,
Yes it's all about You
It's all about You, all about You, JesusEternal God, Alpha and Omega, we draw near to you because you have first come near to us. All things are held together by you and through you, and that includes our lives, and this world. In this we rejoice and we rest. Forgive us for centring our lives on lesser things. By your Spirit, stir in us a life that is committed, in all areas, to revolve around you. AMEN
With care and in prayer,
