AUGUST REFLECTIONS (IN THE MIDST OF THIS PANDEMIC)

AUGUST REFLECTIONS
A---Anticipate what tomorrow has in store for you! Sometimes this is very difficult to do, especially living in the days of COVID. But we must realize God has a plan for our lives; and this is all in His hands. What’s around the corner? What will tomorrow bring for you—that may be a total surprise, and totally unexpected? Anticipate good things! Pray that God will reveal His plan, His “surprise” for you—in His time!
U---Understand others, and their situation. You may be coping fairly well during this pandemic. But others may not be doing so well—at all. Those with children at home, while trying to work. Those who feel very isolated and extremely alone. Those with anxiety or depression concerns. Those who constantly live in a state of fear. Have an understanding heart, as you pray for others in these unprecedented days.
G---Give where you can. Yes; financially—as many people, many charities (including our churches) are struggling. But also, give to others wherever possible. Give a little something to cheer up the spirit of another. Give of your time—lending a listening ear when needed. Give of yourself in ways that help others, and please the Lord. Give time, daily, to be with our Heavenly Father—while enjoying His awesome Creation!
U---Understand yourself. This might seem to be a strange one. But it’s so important to self-evaluate; to try and understand why we feel the way we do one day, then feel somewhat differently the next. These are very strange—even crazy—times! Be gentle with yourself. Allow yourself to grieve for what was; yet to look forward to what is right now, and what will be in the days to come. God is with us all on this journey!
S---Sensitivity to those around us, to all that’s happening in our world, is the key to being all God wants us to be. Sensitive to racism that definitely exits. Sensitive to discrimination. Sensitive to grave concerns relating to poverty and violence and war and hatred and loneliness. The list could go on… Sensitivity means we are to bring all these issues before God in daily prayer. Then to reflect God’s Light in the world all around us.
T---Thankfulness for all God’s many blessings brings a true sense of peace within. The world may seem to be chaotic at times. These days of COVID are somewhat stressful—due to the unknown of what lies ahead. But to have a spirit of thankfulness brings a real sense of contentment and joy and love for the One who gives us life, and purpose, and fulfilment. “Thank you, Lord, for all you give to me, to us, daily. We love you Jesus!”
