2nd Year Cadet - 1979 to 1983
In 1979, 1 new regulation came into existence stating that Cadets would no longer wear high collar uniforms during their two-year period of training. At the same time, the vertical trim of a cadet become obsolete. Upon completion of the first year of training, the Cadet would receive their second-year trim consisting of two thin red braid horizontally on a black epaulet encircled by a black braid.
This new model of trim did not last long, for it became obsolete in 1983. The Heralds of Hope were the last session to wear this.
