Ambassadors! Ambassadors for Christ!
Through ev’ry age one Name endures;
We speak of Christ who bids us go
To bid you come, His Name to know
In Christ’s Name do we beseech you,
To be reconciled to God.
 
But say, can you say who has sent you?
Can you tell us the name of your king?
From whom have you come representing?
What imperial word do you bring?
 
There’s a kingdom almighty, eternal,
All-commanding through time and through space.
There enthroned is our sovereign supernal;
He’s the God of all-glorious grace.
 
In the greatest of missions engaging,
To announce what that throne has released,
We warn of a war that is raging,
Yet we speak of a treaty of peace.
 
But are you indeed sent by heaven?
Do you surely the Lord’s message bear?
Tell us where is the badge of your calling?
O ambassadors! What do you wear?
 
Let our faces and voices bearing
To your call for credentials reply
While the world to the Cross we are sharing
Let our lives emphasize what we cry.
 
For ‘tis Jesus whose throne in eternal;
At His feet must the universe bow.
At His bidding we come to beseech you,
For the day of salvation in now.
