Sessional Song

Wanted, Hearts to love the Masses, Hearts to help Him seek the lost;
(Thus sang the warriors of days gone by)
Hearts to help Him save all classes, Hearts to help Him save the worst.
(Prepared for Christ alone to live or die!)

Greathearts before us trod the sacrificial way,
Eager for service in their own appointed day;
We who have entered into labours that they wrought
Would pray to be made worthy of the battles that they fought.
Greathearts! Greathearts! Greathearts for God.

Our Lord's great heart with pity broke when o'er Jerusalem
He wept;
Yet words of truth and power He spoke to rouse the dormant
conscience as it slept.
Great Heart that loved when men its love refused,
Over our hearts be Thy great love diffused.

Greathearts of old their lives laid down by flame and sword
and fang devoured ,
And as they grasped the martyr's crown on cruel treach'rous
foes forgiveness showered.
Greathearts that mercy showed when men grew vile,
Nor suffered hate their spirit to defile.

Greathearts have been whose names live on,
Their deeds of faith the world has sung
And nameless hosts whose witness shone whene'er the Spirit's
light within has sprung.
Greathearts who triumphed in the lowly ways,
And by their faith transfigured common days.

We are prepared to tread the sacrificial way,
Eager for service in our own appointed day;
Glad to declare Salvation tidings far and wide,
Make known to all mankind: "It was for you the Saviour died!"
Greathearts! Greathearts! Greathearts for God.
