2026 Election Toolkit

Election Resources

This fall is one of the busiest election seasons in recent memory. Quebec holds its provincial election on October 5. British Columbia votes twice, with municipal elections on October 17 and a provincial election on October 24. Ontario's municipal and school board elections follow on October 26, Manitoba's municipal elections on October 28, and PEI's municipal elections on November 2. Several federal by-elections are also expected to be called in the coming months.

Campaigns are when candidates are most actively listening to their communities and shaping the priorities they'll carry into office. Inviting them to see our work firsthand helps them understand the needs in their community before decisions are made. The relationships built now often last well beyond election day, whether a candidate wins or continues serving in another role.

As a registered charity, The Salvation Army has specific responsibilities during an election, and staying non-partisan protects our charitable status and our ability to serve communities across Canada. The 2026 Election Toolkit is here to help you plan candidate visits, reach out with confidence, and stay non-partisan throughout. You'll find guidelines, letter templates, and answers to common questions inside.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your respective Public Affairs Manager.
