COLONEL CLYDE MOORE

A native of Grand Bank, Newfoundland, Clyde Moore graduated with an honors diploma and Governor General's bronze Medal for obtaining the highest marks in Salvation Army schools in the province.

Commissioned as a Salvation Army officer in 1956 in the Sword Bearers Session, he since earned a Bachelor of Theology degree and completed three years of university toward a degree in accounting. Officer experience over 41 years includes 11 years as a corps officer in such corps as St. Anthony, NL, Kitchener, ON and Atlanta Temple, Georgia, six in the territorial finance department, and more than 20 in divisional postings. For the past four years, he served as territorial secretary for business administration.

Now, as second-in-command in the territory, Colonel Clyde Moore is required to assist the territorial commander in the operation and direction of all Army activities in the territory.

Colonel Mary Moore, also from Newfoundland and initially attracted to the nursing profession, was also commissioned as a Salvation Army officer in 1956. The couple were married two years later.

"While completing a course in psychiatry my career direction suddenly changed," says Colonel Mary Moore. "God spoke to me through a dear patient who told me that to her, I was Jesus and that I needed to present Him to the world."

In 41 years of team ministry with her husband, Colonel Mary Moore has served in a variety of corps, youth and divisional appointments with specific responsibilities in women's ministries for over 20 years.

"I will continue to work to see that women's ministries receives the priority in Salvation Army programming throughout the territory it deserves because it opens doors of ministry to the whole family," she says. "I also want to encourage our women leaders to realize that they are only limited in achieving the potential of women's ministries by their own vision. "
