COLONEL DONALD COPPLE

Don Copple entered training from Flin Flon, Manitoba, in 1962 as part of the “Heroes of the Faith” session of cadets.

Initially appointed to Port Colbourne, Ontario, he served in several corps (church) appointments, including Chatham and Sarnia, Ontario. These assignments were followed by an appointment at the Training College as Field Coordinator for a number of years. Subsequent corps appointments included Mississauga Temple and Scarborough Citadel, Ontario.

Recent appointments have been to Divisional and Territorial Headquarters as Divisional Secretary, Divisional Secretary for Business Administration, Divisional Secretary for Program, and latterly as Assistant Property Secretary, Property Secretary, Assistant Chief Secretary, and Divisional Commander for British Columbia prior to his appointment as Divisional Commander for Ontario Central-East. Don also assumed responsibility as Executive Officer to the Canadian Staff Band for a period of time.

Ann Copple (née Cairns) entered training in 1961 as part of the “Servants of Christ” session from Point St. Charles Corps, in Montreal.

She was appointed first to assist at the Napanee Corps, then Byersville in Peterborough, Ontario. Prior to her marriage to Donald Copple in 1965, she was the Corps Officer for Mimico, Ontario.

Ann has over the years specialized in ministries to women. She has successfully implemented a number of ongoing women’s groups in her various corps appointments. For a period of time, she shared an appointment with her husband at the Toronto College for Officer Training, where she held responsibilities as a sectional officer, library assistant, and in child care.

She also worked with Major Miriam Evenden (R) as her secretary and assisted in the organization of the Heritage Centre, which included the design and approvals of both the Heritage Centre and College Library.

Ann served as Divisional Director of Women’s Organizations for the (then) Newfoundland Central Division for one year, then as Assistant to the Territorial Women’s Ministries Secretary at Territorial Headquarters. Subsequent appointments included Divisional Director of Women’s Ministries for British Columbia, and later for the Ontario Central-East Division.

She is a member of C.A.S.E. (Canadians Addressing Sexual Exploitation).

On March 1, 2008, Lieut.-Colonels Donald and Ann Copple assumed their present responsibilities as Chief Secretary and Territorial Secretary for Women’s Ministries.
