Jan9WedWhat fruit has God called you to bear? January 9, 2019 Major Jennifer Hale
Happy New Year!
At the beginning of the New Year, I find myself grateful for a fresh start. It’s a time for me to re-evaluate my priorities, give some thought to where I’m spending my time, money, and to seek God’s guidance and direction for the year ahead. For me, it’s kind of like pressing the reset button. The truth is though that every day can be a fresh start. The Bible says:
Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning (Lamentations 3:23).
I’ve determined that this year I will place a greater emphasis on the Word of God. I want to see with fresh eyes the God of the Bible. The word that God gave me for 2019 is ‘deeper.’ I’m praying that through this year I’ll be able to go deeper into the Word, deeper into prayer, deeper in worship, deeper into the presence of God.
What is God pressing upon your heart for this year? Have you taken time to listen to His voice? Are you wondering which way to go? What’s the next step you should take? One thing I’ve learned over the years is that when I’m following close to Jesus my vision is clearer and my heart is aligned with the desires that God wants for me. It’s in these moments that I truly understand Psalm 37:4:
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Here, in the Candidates department, we are continuing the “Not Called?” recruitment campaign with the Call & Commitment Sunday coming in February. The theme for this special Sunday is “Kingdom Choices – Why Not You?” We’ll be giving focus to the words of Jesus in John 15:16:
You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit…
The question we’re asking every disciple of Jesus this year is “what fruit has God called you to bear this year?” What’s the next step of faith that you need to take to fulfilling God’s plan for your life.
We’d love to hear from you. Write us at firstname.lastname@example.org or send us a message on our facebook page @saCandidates.
