The start of 2024 was action-packed for The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) team and summer has brought no relief. From east to west, from wildfires to floods, we’ve been there for communities when they needed us most, often jumping in at a moment’s notice. Many vital partnerships make our work possible.
Wildfires, floods and the COVID-19 pandemic―all have recently brought to harsh light the devasting impact of disasters on communities and the strain they place on Canada’s response capacity. Seeing the need to better support and serve Canadians affected by wildfires and other disasters, the Weston Family Foundation stepped up to help.
