Mental Health First Aid Classes
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training provides you with the tools and knowledge you need to support someone in a mental health crisis until professional assistance arrives.
The Salvation Army is partnering with the Mental Health Commission to offer courses to all employees.

Course description:
Course participants learn how to recognize signs a person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis, while gaining necessary tools for providing support until help arrives. Training also includes guidance with assisting in a substance use incident and using Mental Health First Aid actions to maintain one’s own mental well-being. Prerequisite:
Emailed approval from supervisor. Two to three hours of self-directed reading.
Length:
One day (eight hours) of virtual classroom time.
