General Shaw Clifton has convened a meeting of the most senior leaders of The Salvation Army to gather in London, England from Tuesday, 7 July to Monday, 13 July 2009.
Salvation Army leaders from every territory and every command in the world will be present, with senior officers from International Headquarters. The total number attending will be 135, including the General, the World President of Women's Ministries and the Chief of the Staff.
The main purpose of the conference will be to seek the guidance of God for the future witness and service of the Army globally. The conference will also address current international issues which affect the life and work of The Salvation Army around the world. The event provides also a valuable opportunity for senior leaders to meet one another in Christian fellowship, to be in prayer together, and to feed upon God's word.
A report of the work of the ICL will be shared with the wider Army later this year.
Meanwhile, the General is requesting widespread prayer support for this key event both in these months of preparation and for the days of the conference itself.
