Salvation Army leaders from all of Africa assembled in Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique, for the Africa Zonal Conference to capture General Linda Bond's vision for the future of the Salvation Army as well as to share with her the African perspective.
Preceding the conference the General inaugurated Maxixe Corps hall, which is situated in a complex that will house the South Divisional Headquarters of this new territory. The other leaders were divided into groups to visit corps in the Maputo Capital Division.
This beginning set the tone for the discussions that were to take place during the conference, where the fundamentals and essentials of the Salvation Army were studied, debated and strengthened.
At departure all left to their different countries energised by what the Lord had done during the week, and by the Mozambican hospitality.
So, whether you are a shelter worker, a bandmaster, a bookkeeper or a pastor; if you work with youth in your corps or lead the Over-60 Club; if your office is in a headquarters or in a canteen on the street; if your clientele are hungry and poor, or wealthy and ready to donate; if your work involves sorting clothes in the thrift store, or finding homes for families in need— you are mission.
