On International Volunteer Day (December 5) the International Congress team launched a new initiative to inform potential volunteers for The Salvation Army's 150th anniversary congress about the roles that need filling and the eligibility criteria. In order to provide the best possible experience for the 15,000 delegates who will converge on The O2, London, in July 2015, 500 volunteers will be recruited to provide assistance at congress venues, answering enquiries and being the public face of The Salvation Army at this historic event.
To this end, the congress team will be hosting a series of live, interactive Ask Boundless sessions online at http://sar.my/askboundless. Prospective volunteers are encouraged to log on to the site to put their questions direct to the International Congress team, members of which will endeavour to provide answers in real time. The first of these exciting live events will take place on Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 11.30am to 1.30pm, with a second event planned for Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm (all times GMT).
During the live event queries can be submitted directly through the website or by using the #askboundless hashtag on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. International Congress Delegate Affairs and Volunteer Coordinator Louise Rutterford explains: "This is a great opportunity to learn more about joining the Boundless team and to have all your questions answered."
The events are anticipated to cover issues such as what to expect as a Boundless Volunteer, the training which will be available, the legal aspects of volunteering in the UK and details of the unique benefits that volunteers will receive.
Louise concludes: "Applications to join the team of Boundless Volunteers will be available from Monday, January 5, so #askboundless if you have any questions!"
