NEW & NOTABLE

No Address

Inspired by true events, No Address tells the moving story of a group of individuals experiencing homelessness. Released by Robert Craig Films, it is a powerful narrative about hope, humanity and resilience, following characters as they navigate life without a physical address. Through their stories, the film sheds light on the reality that homelessness can affect anyone, regardless of background or circumstance.

During production, Robert Craig Films partnered with The Salvation Army, a collaboration that brought authenticity to key scenes featuring real Salvation Army officers and the Army’s recognizable branding.

To honour this partnership, retired national leaders for the United States, Commissioners Kenneth and Jolene Hodder, attended the film’s premiere at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles. Several Salvation Army officers and soldiers from the Southern California Division of the U.S.A. Western Territory were also present, including Lt-Colonels Mike and Cindy Dickinson.

No Address features an impressive ensemble cast, including Lucas Jade Zumann, Beverly D’Angelo, Isabella Ferreira, William Baldwin, Xander Berkeley, Ty Pennington, Kristanna Loken, Patricia Velasquez and Ashanti. Directed by Julia Verdin, the film has received critical acclaim and resonated deeply with audiences, currently holding a 98 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

“What drew me to No Address was its raw honesty. This film doesn’t just tell a story, it gives people experiencing homelessness their dignity back,” shares cast member Ty Pennington. “Being part of it reminded me how powerful a second chance can be, and how just believing in someone can change everything.”

In addition to the feature film, Robert Craig Films produced Americans With No Address, a companion documentary that takes a deeper look at homelessness in America. The documentary features interviews, first-hand accounts and real-life efforts to address homelessness, including contributions from The Salvation Army.

“The overwhelming response shows people want to understand this crisis and be part of the solution,” says Jennifer Stolo, CEO and producer of Robert Craig Films. “With our streaming releases, we’re bringing a message of hope and an urgent call to action to even more people.”

Both No Address and Americans With No Address are now available for digital purchase and rental on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and more. For more information, visit NoAddressMovie.com.

The Smoke That Thunders: The Orchestral Music of Andrew Wainwright

REVIEW BY CRAIG LEWIS

Epic film scores by composers such as John Williams and Hans Zimmer have made orchestral music popular, bridging demographics and historical stereotypes. This extended-play recording by Salvationist Andrew Wainwright serves a similar purpose as it brings orchestral music, heavily weighted in Christian themes, to a church audience. Wainwright creates soundscapes that range from deeply contemplative to soaring and expansive.

Wainwright’s music is played by both corps bands and staff bands around the world, as well as by ensembles in the wider brass, orchestral and choral circles. Importantly, his deep personal faith is well represented in his compositions.

The EP opens with Corrupted Creatures, a blazing cinematic overture with references to All Creatures of Our God and King, followed by Be Thou My Vision. The title track, The SmokeThat Thunders, is pure movie music that will transport you to Africa’s Victoria Falls.

The Journey Home reflects the emotions of life and the journey to our eternal reward. Written for the composer’s own wedding, The Vow merges Ennio Morricone and Richard Wagner-like sounds with William Himes’ modern worship song, All That I Am, to create an emotionally satisfying experience. The recording ends with Deciduous Susurrations, a short reflection on change as seen in the seasons of nature. Aside from being an easy and enjoyable listen, this recording will take you from moments of worship and introspection to feelings of jubilation.

Layered underneath the music is a technical innovation that combines many of the finest orchestral sound libraries with live violin and cello soloists, all mixed by Wainwright.

Wainwright is the son of Salvation Army missionary parents and grew up in Africa, and all proceeds from this recording will go to the Army’s Thika School for the Blind in Kenya.
