On Saturday, December 6, 2025, The Salvation Army will partner with Hockey Night in Canada and Ron MacLean to kick off our iconic Christmas kettle campaign during one of the most-watched hockey nights of the year.

The special on-camera segment hosted by Ron MacLean will shine a national spotlight on the mission of The Salvation Army and invite Canadians to give hope this Christmas season.

“As we celebrate the 135th year of The Salvation Army’s kettle campaign, we’re honoured to partner with Hockey Night in Canada—an institution woven into the fabric of our nation,” says Lt-Colonel John Murray, secretary for communications. “We’re especially grateful to Ron MacLean, a trusted partner and longtime friend of the Army, for helping us shine a light on the growing needs facing Canadians today.

“This collaboration allows us to share a message of hope and generosity with households from coast to coast to coast, reminding us all that when we come together, lives are changed,” Lt-Colonel Murray adds.

The Salvation Army integration will air during three marquee matchups: Toronto vs. Montreal (CBC/Sportsnet, 7 p.m.), Ottawa vs. St. Louis (Sportsnet ONE, 7 p.m.), and Calgary vs. Utah (Sportsnet West, 7 p.m.).

Alongside the featured segment, multiple Salvation Army “Impossible Choices" commercials will run throughout the broadcasts, reinforcing our holiday marketing campaign.
