Nonprofit Executive Management

Build strategic leadership skills to lead with clarity, confidence, and impact in the nonprofit sector.

This program, delivered in partnership with Trinity Western University (TWU), equips Salvation Army leaders with critical knowledge and tools for executive-level leadership in nonprofit and charitable organizations. Courses are designed to address sector-specific challenges while grounding leadership in Christian ethics and values.


Eligibility:
This program is open to Salvation Army leaders who have completed the Leader Internship Leadership Certification and are ready to pursue advanced academic learning in nonprofit management. Participants must meet TWU’s admissions requirements.

Program Structure
Participants complete five graduate-level MBA courses (three core and two electives) through Trinity Western University. Courses are delivered through a mix of online and in-person learning and are designed for working professionals.

Core Courses (Required):

  • MBA 652: Management and Leadership for Nonprofit and Charitable Organizations (Online)
  • MBA 552: Human Resource Management (In-person)
  • MBA 593: Christian Leadership and Ethics (In-person)

Elective Courses (Choose Two):

  • MBA 651: The Formation and Structure of Nonprofit and Charitable Organizations (Online)
  • MBA 655: Financial Management of Nonprofit and Charitable Organizations (Online)
  • MBA 662: Managing a Global Organization (In-person)

Certification and Digital Badge
Upon completion, participants will receive an official certificate from Trinity Western University and a digital badge from The Salvation Army.

Program Duration and Flexibility
Courses are offered in a flexible format with both online and in-person options, allowing participants to complete the program alongside their regular responsibilities. This program will take participants between 2-3 years to complete.

Program Cost
Leadership Development will cover all travel related costs for this program as well as a percentage of the cost of tuition. Remaining costs must be covered by individuals and/or ministry units. Details about cost and available financial support will be provided during the application process.
