As we think of Christ during the Easter season, we fix our eyes on our risen Lord, “…the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin…” (Exodus 34:6-7). Father, our hard, rebellious hearts may become insensitive to you; our response may be weak and intermittent; yet still you love us, you great lover of our souls! Oh, the love that the Father has lavished on us wayward ones. Not just in mercy drops, but great, abundant waves from the ocean of your heart of love, which only come to us in your crucified Son. Shame on us Lord and forgive us for being so silent before a world that does not recognize you. May we boast of you all day long.
