- Youth Action Committee
The Youth Action Committee (YAC) gives youth and young adults a voice in the creation and development of Children and Youth programming across the Territory.
At the recommendation of the Territories 15 Divisional Children and Youth secretaries, we have chosen 13 young adults (16-24 yrs old) to offer their creativity, experience, and passion as members of the first Youth Action Committee.
Our Theme verse for the 2022 Youth Action Committee comes from 1 Peter 1:13 (ESV),
Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
A call to Active Holy living.

Right now, I've been resting upon John 1:16-17
Why are you involved with the Salvation Army?
Both of my parents are officers, so I've been in the church since I was an infant. But I love the Army because they're committed to sharing the gospel in both word and in deed through its various programs and outreach opportunities.

Philippians 2:5 (NLT), "You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had."
Why are you involved with the Salvation Army?
I am involved in the Salvation Army because I believe our purpose as Christians is to love God, love others, and pour life, light, and love into our communities- which the Salvation Army does so actively.

Why are you involved in The Salvation Army?
It started with my brother needing a job because my family and I were new to Canada, and so he found a job with one of the churches (Weetamah), which led us to decide to start going to church there. Ever since then, I've come to appreciate what TSA is doing and that I want to be a part of helping others and sharing the love of Jesus. Also, I have been blessed with a wonderful church family that is now Cross Bridge Community Church. I now have that drive to share the awesomeness of God, and show what God can do for others, as he has done for me.
What's your favourite bible verse?
It's not necessarily a verse, but the whole chapter of Psalm 23, as it is a chapter I grew up with, and a chapter that I hold dear.

What is your favourite Bible verse?
Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”.
Why are you involved with The Salvation Army?
I was fortunate enough to attend SA church services with my parents beginning from my toddler years here in Bermuda.Years later my parents felt called to be Pastors of the SA, and from then on I was saved at 12 years old, and have also had the opportunity to participate in various events/activities, (camp, camp staff, thrift store, hampers, food bank, concerts, congress etc.,) therefore, the opportunity to be involved was right in front of me and I decided to take it on!

Why are you involved with The Salvation Army?
I've been involved with the Salvation Army since I started attending the Willows in Langley, BC, when I was 7 years old. The majority of my involvement has taken place at The Salvation Army's Camp Sunrise in Gibsons, BC, as a camper, volunteer, LIT, and eventually staff. I love being involved with the Salvation Army because I align deeply with the Army's mission to share Christ's love by tangibly meeting people's needs through purposeful action.
I'm really looking forward to our first meeting and to seeing what God does with this committee over the next year!
What is your favourite Bible verse?
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" - 2 Corinthians 12:9

My favourite Bible verse is Peter 4:8 (NIV) “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins”. It’s currently my favourite Bible verse because among others like John 3:16 or 1 John 4:16, it reminds me of how powerful the love of God is and how important it is to live my life in love .
Why are you involved with the Salvation Army?
I’m involved with the Salvation Army because it’s a community where I feel welcomed, where there are people I care about, where I can develop my faith in community and because the Mission and vision statement of the Salvation Army align with who I am and what I feel passionate about such as sharing the love of Jesus.
CARLOS CUELLAR

My favourite Bible verse is Psalms 4:8.
Why are you involved with the Salvation Army?
When my family and I moved to Canada we had no relatives or prior community connections in British Columbia. The Richmond Salvation Army Corps welcomed my family with open arms and provide spiritual support. The Salvation Army became a more impactful part of my life as I started to work at Camp Sunrise. I am actively involved in the Salvation Army so that we can positively impact our community in more inclusive ways.

There are a multitude of reasons why I am involved with The Salvation Army. The first reason is my heritage. Both sides of my family were heavily impacted by the work of The Salvation Army, so The Salvation Army has always been my church. However, secondly and most importantly, I am involved with The Salvation Army because it is in God’s plan for my life. I have always loved the mission of The Salvation Army, and as i grew up more and more, i realized that helping people both physically and spiritually is a great passion of mine!
Where do you live? I consider Pictou County (Thorburn), Nova Scotia “home”. I grew up only a few minutes from Scotian Glen Camp. Now I live in New Brunswick during the Fall and Winter for post-secondary, and Nova Scotia during Spring and Summer!
What is your favourite Bible verse? Over the years, I have developed a fair share of favorite Bible Verses. At Officership Information Weekend 2021, Captains Brent and Melissa Haas shared Philippians 1:6 with me, and it has stayed with me ever since. It reads “Believing that the God who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion”.
