The Salvation Army's Santa Shuffle is back again this year, taking place on December 4-5 in 37 cities across Canada, with more fun than ever to get runners shuffling right into the festive season.
In partnership with Running Room, the event features an opening ceremony and runners’ choice of a five-kilometre Fun Run or one-kilometre Elf Walk. The Santa Shuffle will be held virtually again for the 2021 season to keep everyone safe.
While the virtual format may be familiar from last year, there are many fresh new surprises. When shufflers sign up this year, they will get a free shirt and a festive pom-pom hat as a pledge incentive. There will also be national contests recognizing the top runners in each province and the best-dressed shufflers. Every shuffler will also get a medal for participating in the event.
The Santa Shuffle began unofficially in 1990 when a group of runners from a Running Room in Edmonton decided to race to raise donations for The Salvation Army to help those less fortunate in their community. Now, more than 30 years later, the Santa Shuffle is a national event that helps the most vulnerable, all across Canada.
