Explore your creative side with this simple DIY.
Supplies Needed: thrifted wool socks; scissors; felt; embroidery floss; embroidery needle.
Step 1
Find yourself some wool socks, preferably knee highs. These can be old or thrifted.
Step 2
Wash and dry the socks.
Step 3
Lay out the socks and use chalk to mark where you need to cut a hole for your thumb, plus where you’ll cut the toe for your fingers.
Note: you can make small cuts and try on the socks, then trim as needed.
Step 4
You have your mittens, now you can add some funk to them. Use buttons, felt, ribbon, etc. For this example, I cut out a felt heart to add as a decoration.
Step 5
I pinned the felt heart in place and then used embroidery floss to stitch it to the sock. You can have fun with the colours to make them more you. And that’s it!
