Supply Chains and MSHT
Could you imagine how our everyday purchases might unknowingly contribute to human trafficking? When we think of human trafficking, we often think of sex trafficking or child exploitation. But have you considered how trafficked individuals might be involved in producing the items we buy at the grocery store, clothing chain, or electronic store? What about the exploitation hidden within supply chains?
At the upcoming webinar, we will explore these questions and more. We will begin with a definition and description of supply chains, followed by a discussion on how supply chains can either contribute positively or negatively to modern slavery and human trafficking (MSHT). We will then examine the risks and dangers that supply chains pose to individuals experiencing MSHT, and explore the challenges and opportunities related to supply chains, government compliance, and policies. Additionally, we will discuss strategies for consumers to make a meaningful impact in their workplaces and personal lives to combat MSHT in supply chains. Furthermore, we will analyze The Salvation Army's responsibilities with supply chains in light of the Fighting Against Forced Labour And Child Labour In Supply Chain Act, and explore how The Salvation Army can adjust sourcing practices as a nonprofit organization to demonstrate accountability to donors.
