Bangladesh is a country of about 178 million people, located on the coast of the Bay of Bengal just east of India. The Salvation Army has been active there since 1971 and has many thriving ministries.
Lt-Colonel Elizabeth Nelson, a Canadian officer, is currenting serving in Bangladesh as the territorial commander, but her history of service in the country goes back to the 1990s. On this episode, she reflects on the beauty and the challenges of the country, her own spiritual journey, and how the Army is working to empower women, particularly through initiatives like Sally Ann, a handicraft company that gives them an opportunity to gain skills and an income.
