The Salvation Army in Halifax West wishes to express its gratitude toward the Honourable Lena Metlege Diab, member of Parliament for Halifax West, and the Government of Canada for a grant of $352,000, provided through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF).

The Salvation Army in Halifax West helps thousands of people in the community annually. Families, individuals, children, seniors, new Canadians and long-time Maritimers alike all seek hope at The Salvation Army.

This grant will support The Salvation Army by revitalizing its facilities and technology to better serve the Halifax West community. The Army is proud to partner for change in Halifax West and thanks Diab for her continued leadership in Halifax. The revitalization of The Salvation Army facilities will allow partnerships in the community to flourish and grow.

“This funding will help individuals and families in our area by creating improved community facilities with safe spaces enabling enhanced programs and support which focus on serving as a beacon of hope to those who need it most throughout our Halifax West community,” says Major Lorne Pritchett, leader of the Halifax West branch of The Salvation Army.

"The Salvation Army in Fairview is a community hub that brings together several neighbourhood groups to offer a range of activities and services," says Diab. "Their location on Gesner Street provides public spaces that community organizations use for their own programs, and those spaces need upgrades. This funding from the Government of Canada will allow The Salvation Army to perform necessary improvements so that these programs can thrive for many years to come."

The CCRF aims to help communities across Canada build and improve community infrastructure projects so they can rebound from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Salvation Army is grateful to receive such generous support from Diab and the Government of Canada as it continues to move forward in its mission of giving hope and restoring dignity to all who need it in Halifax.

Hi, the email comes 28 years late. My father was a WW2 and praised the Salvation Army for their services to soldiers over seas. On Nov 1st 1994, I lost my hero, my mentor, friend and my father. His major request was for the service to be performed by the Slavation Army and it was very well done. So much time has passed but, I want to express my gratitude.
