The 110th Anniversary Memorial of the Sinking of the Empress of Ireland

All are welcome to join in a time of prayer and remembrance at the Empress of Ireland Monument at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto, for a Salvation Army memorial service on May 26.

The service will honour those who were lost in the sinking of the Empress of Ireland 110 years ago. The meeting will be led by Commissioner Lee Graves, territorial commander, with support from Commissioner Debbie Graves, territorial president of women’s ministries, Colonel John Chamness, chief secretary, and Colonel Lani Chamness, territorial secretary for spiritual life development.

Musical support will be provided by ensembles of the Canadian Staff Songsters, led by Cathie Koehnen, and the Yorkminster Citadel Band, led by Marcus Venables.

Attendees can enter the cemetery at the Yonge Street entrance (1649 Yonge Street, north of St. Clair Avenue). The service will not be livestreamed. Chairs and tent shade will be provided, but limited. In the event of rain, the service will be cancelled.
