This e-newsletter has been sent out to all Officers and Area Commanders
The Corps Mission Department is stepping into 2024 with great anticipation as we look to God, whose thoughts and ways are not like ours and who we trust with more than we could ever imagine! This year, we remain focused on creating a culture of Christ-centred, others-focused disciples, providing corps with practical and accessible resources and support. These monthly newsletters are thoughtfully crafted with you in mind, and we welcome your feedback to ensure they are met with value. May God richly bless you.

Corps Mission Website Relaunch

We are excited to introduce our redesigned website featuring multiple new resources that are easy to access and relevant for leading healthy congregations. Check out The Salvation Army Library in RightNow Media, the Call & Commitment resources in the 2024 Corps Planning Calendar, Easter resources and so much more. Don't forget to bookmark this link for future resources, updates and events!

Alpha Training

Alpha has been endorsed as one of the territory's primary outreach tools and its use is being encouraged in every corps. Training is being offered for those who would like to start an Alpha, even with limited resources. Territorial champions are available to assist and support you.

Seven Church Trends to Watch in 2024

Check out Carey Nieuwhof’s latest article 7 Church Trends to Watch in 2024 which could shape the way you lead in the coming year. This valuable information can be shared with your own leadership team.

Book Review

Phil Wakefield from the leadership development department recommends Canoeing The Mountains by Tod Bolsinger as an excellent read for those trying to lead their congregation into uncharted territory. This book contains tips, tools and wisdom for those attempting to go where no corps has gone before.

New Administrative Model

This valuable document describes and outlines a workable leadership structure that aligns with orders and regulations yet makes allowances for the unique situations of many of our smaller corps. The document describes the essentials and the variations of forming a pastoral care council and different ways to structure your corps council or your senior leadership team.

RightNow Media Recommendation

For this month's RightNow Media feature, Captain Laura Hickman from Connection Point Church & Resource Centre recommends The Rock, the Road, and the Rabbi by Kathie Lee Gifford. According to Laura, Kathie Lee helps the learner understand Scripture from its Middle Eastern context while making weekly connections between the Old Testament and the New Testament so the learner can experience the text in eye-opening ways. Laura completed this study with two different groups and found that the learning was rich.
