Key Points
From Oshawa Community Church Comfort Purses
- Begin by praying for all involved in the rescue and recovery of victims.
- Connect with local police services and victim services to determine need and how you can best support those they are helping.
- Be inspired to use your creativity in filling the purses with practical items, Scripture verses, and notes of encouragement.
From Hamilton Lawson Ministries S.A.F.E. Hubs
- We understand that education and prevention decreases the risk of these individuals being involved in human trafficking.
- Individuals with a developmental or intellectual disability experiencing human trafficking are diverse in their needs. The information, support and education provided needs to be adapted accordingly.
- Working with a team of professionals from various sectors and agencies have been an integral part of our program development. With their expertise we have been able to provide comprehensive education that is able to suit the needs of the clients.
From The Willows Family Life Centre BRAVE and Beyond
- BRAVE is a relationship-based program to educate and empower young girls in your communities against the realities of human trafficking. This program should be considered preventative in nature, equipping participants to build their own self confidence and life skills, while also educating for warning signs of trafficking at an age-appropriate level.
- BRAVE is built on three pillars for you to base your ministry design around:
Equality and Dignity (We see you, You matter)
Hope and Empowerment (We believe in you. You can do it!)
Inclusion and Mutuality (We are with you. You can count on us) - Start small or partner up! If there is a MU running BRAVE near you - check it out - it's so important to share in ministry with one another and build each other up. Sometimes we need inspiration - don't be afraid to ask for help! Remember - Brave is about creating safe space and building relationship. Good food, crafts, and interesting discussion topics are all you need to start out!
- Try connecting with local foster parent hubs, local group homes or youth drop in Centre's, and even your local Child Protection offices. You never know who you might inspire to partner with you. This is a time where trafficking is rising, and the BRAVE curriculum is prevalent!
From Mississauga Community Church Others Ministry – Steps to Begin:
- Pray and Discern the Need in Your Community:
Begin by praying for direction and asking God to reveal the specific justice issue(s) your church can respond to. This could be human trafficking awareness, youth empowerment, or identity in Christ. - Start Small and Build a Core Team:
Bring together youth and young adults who are passionate about justice. Organize a Bible study, a conversation night on faith and social justice, or a small service project to begin building momentum. - Equip and Empower Youth to Take Action:
Help young people discover their God-given gifts and encourage them to lead. Use tools like Youth Alpha or church outreach programs to equip them in their faith journey. The vision is to see them rise up, speak out, and live out their faith in tangible ways.
