• March of Witness

• Spirit of joyfulness

Praying The Song Book of The Salvation Army

The Lord’s command to go into the world
And preach the gospel unto all,
Is just as true today as when his first
Disciples heard this mighty call;
So let us gird ourselves and go to battle
’Gainst the powers of sin and wrong,
Join the fight for the right,
In his everlasting might,
And sing our marching song:

On we march with the Blood and the Fire,
To the ends of the earth we will go;
And the Saviour’s love
Will be the theme of our song
Because we love him so.
On we march with the Blood and the Fire,
To the ends of the earth we will go;
And the Saviour’s love
Will be the theme of our song
Because we love him so.
(SASB 932)

Prayer

We thank you, gracious Lord, for what you have done for your Salvation Army through this INSPIRE Conference and Congress. We have the opportunity today of being a people that are sent out. This will be demonstrated to us when on this morning the new lieutenants are sent out into your mission field. The fields are white to the harvest and we pray that you will remind them that you are with them and you have promised to enlarge their territory with new souls won for the kingdom. We also have an opportunity to be sent forth on a March of Witness in downtown Toronto. This is more than an event for bands and timbrel players, for flags and uniforms. It is a time to tell the world that Jesus makes a difference in our lives and Jesus can make a difference in the lives of those all around us. You have been faithful, gracious Lord, in inspiring us to be disciples. May we leave this place empowered to be disciple-makers. Amen.

• The people who receive those returning home

Praying The Song Book of The Salvation Army

Travel along in the sunshine
On the king’s highway;
Travel along, singing a song,
Follow Jesus day by day.
Never mind what lies before you,
Never mind what others do;
So travel along in the sunshine
On the king’s highway.
(SASB 685)

Prayer

With hearts full of gratitude, we pray to you, Lord God Almighty. Our whole being still resounds with the great things that you have done during this INSPIRE Conference and Congress. On this day we think and pray about homecomings. As the General and Commissioner Rosalie Peddle return to their home, we thank you that they were able to tarry with us. As the presenters and participants return home, we are grateful for their contributions. We pray that safety and journeying mercies shall follow all those who are returning home right across the street and also to those who are flying many hours to be reunited with loved ones left at home. May they feel your special care and your security. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Called to Remember

Revelation 3:3
Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what timeI will come to you.

Prayer Points

• Remember the INSPIRE Conference and Congress

• Remember the God-inspired worship

• Remember the Holy Spirit’s convictions

• Remember our resolve to life as kingdom people

Praying The Song Book of The Salvation Army

God is still on the throne
And he will remember his own;
Though trials may press us and burdens distress us,
He never will leave us alone.
God is still on the throne,
And he will remember his own;
His promise is true, he will not forget you;
God is still on the throne.
(SASB 16)

Prayer

O thou God of burning cleansing flame, we ask you to keep the fire you ignited at INSPIRE burning. As we remember the INSPIRE Conference and Congress, we ask you, Lord, to remember us. We know that you do, but we pray that you will give us fresh insight in how you are with us each and every day, strengthening us to be the people that you have created us to be. INSPIRE was such a blessing and it needs to be more than a memory. There were so many extraordinary moments at INSPIRE that lifted our souls and brought us into your very presence. We will not neglect your messages, delivered through the General, that challenged us to be your loving and obedient children. We also ask you to continue to call to remembrance the resolves that we have made at the INSPIRE Conference and Congress to be different people. People that are sold out to your kingdom. This we pray, in your name. Amen.

Day 39 - July 5
Called to Pray

Image of scrabble pieces with the word PRAY on them

Matthew 6:5-15
And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Prayer Points

• For the lasting results of the congress on the delegates and the communities they live in

• For the salvation of souls

• For the committed disciples to become disciple-makers

• God’s Salvation Army to be inspired for mission and positioned for growth

Praying The Song Book of The Salvation Army

As we come in prayer before you
We with gratitude would say:
Thank you, Father, for the family
Where each member learns to pray.
Even we, Lord, your dear children,
Know what family life can mean
When each one keeps close beside you,
And the love of Christ is seen.

For our special Army family
We would bring our thankful prayer
And we, humbly, Lord, would ask you
Now to keep us in your care.
As you guide and lead us forward
Help us every day to pray
For each other, and our leaders
Serving in your world today.

In our prayers we must remember
That our family is worldwide,
For all people are your children
And the ones for whom you died.
So no selfish prayer we offer
But to you we gladly bring
All who live here on this planet;
May we serve you as our king.
(SASB 743)

Prayer

We bow before you, heavenly Father, and once again come to this sweet moment of prayer, where we simply bring to you our world of care. We pray that your people will be always considered a praying people. We pray that one of the foundational benefits of the INSPIRE Conference and Congress is a renewed sense of the foundational importance of prayer in the life of a believer. In Scripture we are asked to pray for our leaders and shepherds and this we do, asking them to be conformed to your will as your servants for the people. We pray for all who are in hardship and are in need of hope and comfort. May your Salvation Army not only be the place where that occurs, but also an Army that seeks to bring your hope and your comfort in places where it is needed. We ask all these things in and through the strong name of Jesus. Amen.

Day 40 - July 6
Called to Action

Image of different kinds of people shaping an image of a cross

Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Prayer Points

• Love God

• Love others

• Love your shepherds

• Love creation

Praying The Song Book of The Salvation Army

O boundless salvation! deep ocean of love,
O fullness of mercy, Christ brought from above,
The whole world redeeming, so rich and so free,
Now flowing for all men, come, roll over me!

My sins they are many, their stains are so deep,
And bitter the tears of remorse that I weep;
But useless is weeping; thou great crimson sea,
Thy waters can cleanse me, come, roll over me!

My tempers are fitful, my passions are strong,
They bind my poor soul
And they force me to wrong;
Beneath thy blest billows deliverance I see,
O come, mighty ocean, and roll over me!

Now tossed with temptation,
Then haunted with fears,
My life has been joyless and useless for years;
I feel something better most surely would be
If once thy pure waters would roll over me.

O ocean of mercy, oft longing I’ve stood
On the brink of thy wonderful, life giving flood!
Once more I have reachèd this soul cleansing sea,
I will not go back till it rolls over me.

The tide is now flowing, I’m touching the wave,
I hear the loud call of the mighty to save;
My faith’s growing bolder, delivered I’ll be;
I plunge ’neath the waters, they roll over me.

And now, hallelujah! the rest of my days
Shall gladly be spent in promoting his praise
Who opened his bosom to pour out this sea
Of boundless salvation for you and for me.
(SASB 509)

Prayer

You, O God, are the mighty to save and it is your will that your saving message is proclaimed to the whosoever. A salvation from sin and a salvation (liberation) for all that is binding us to anything that is less than the abundant life that you have promised us. We take our charge from your words through Paul in his letter to the Ephesians. We are not saved by works, but by grace. In that we are saved we are “God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” This INSPIRE Conference and Congress has fitted us for these good works and we are prepared to inspire others in your name to do the same: to love God, to love others and to love your creation. May your rich blessing be upon us. God, bless your Salvation Army and us one and all. Amen.
