LEADS Basics

LEADS Basics is a self-paced learning experience designed to introduce you to The Salvation Army’s LEADS in a Caring Environment leadership capability framework. Whether you’re new to a leadership role or looking to strengthen your leadership practice, this program offers a flexible and accessible way to grow.

Eligibility:
LEADS Basics is open to all employees and officers of The Salvation Army in Canada and Bermuda. Whether you supervise a team, serve on the frontline, or aspire to grow into leadership, this program is designed to meet you where you are.

• Participants must first complete the Introduction to Leadership Development.
• Receive their supervisor’s approval.

Program Structure
The program is fully online and self-directed, featuring interactive learning modules that explore the five domains of the LEADS framework:

• Lead Self
• Engage Others
• Achieve Results
• Develop Coalitions
• Systems Transformation

Each module includes real-world scenarios, reflection activities, and insights tailored to The Salvation Army’s unique mission and context. After completing the course, you'll be invited to join a LEADS Café—a small group discussion session to reflect on your learning and hear from peers across the organization.

Certification and Digital Badge
Upon completing the program, participants will receive an official certification from The Salvation Army in the form of a shareable, verifiable digital badge through Credly.

Program Duration and Delivery
You can start anytime and move at your own pace. The full course takes approximately 4–5 hours to complete. You’ll also attend a one-hour virtual LEADS Café discussion, offered several times a year.

This program is designed to be flexible—fit it into your schedule in a way that works for you.

Program Costs
This program is fully funded by Leadership Development as part of The Salvation Army’s investment in growing strong leaders across the territory. There is no cost to you or your ministry unit.

Enrolment
You can apply to LEADS Basics through Workday. Upon approval, you will receive access to the online course and an invitation to upcoming Café sessions.
