Recently Manjita Biswas, Program Director for Oversea's Projects for The Salvation Army World Missions department, visited Sri Lanka.  While there, she had the opportunity to visit one of our Sponsorship programs that is funded by our generous donors.  The Sponsorship program aims to serve all of the children, not a select few. This ensures equal opportunity and creates self-worth. It also reduces unnecessary tension among children and allows staff to make better use of time and energy at the home, school or centre.

This specific program that Manjita visited is the Child Development Center, located in Rajagiriya, Sri Lanka.  The children greeted Manjita with smiles, excitement and overwhelming gratitude to The Salvation Army and the work that is being done there.  Sponsors are financially supporting children to receive food, clothing, shelter, education, medical needs, spiritual and loving care.  It goes far and above the financial donation and turns into giving hope, a future and a transformation that a child has the tools to succeed.

The kids had made this card to thank The Salvation Army for their hard work and dedication.  Instead of keeping this hand made card to ourselves, we really feel that this card belong to you, our donors.  On behalf of the children of the Child Development Centre in Sri Lanka, thank you for all you do.
